Beat the rush!

What a week!

“New” news that is old news occurred repeatedly in mainstream health news stories last week.

First, a report on diabetes reminded of the old adage about the cure being as bad as the disease noting “that comprehensive diabetes treatments have a significant negative impact on quality of life that is comparable to that of life with complications,” according to a study out of The University of Chicago published in the medical journal Diabetes Care that comes by way of the American Diabetes Association (ADA).

The numerous drugs taken each day typically by diabetics are detailed then adding, “As the disease progresses, the drugs increase, often including insulin shots,” according to the Reuters story.

“This tells us that we need to find better, more convenient ways to treat diabetes and other chronic illnesses,” the story concludes quoting the lead study author Dr. Elbert S. Huang from a university statement.

Yet the mineral chromium in a whole food grown variety is never mentioned and continues to be ignored generally by academia at large and specifically by the ADA though it is a better, more convenient way to treat diabetes and other chronic illnesses. It is much less expensive as well. Could that be part of why chromium is ignored?

Simple math

Next, another study notes that having babies reduces the risk for breast cancer. Yet scientific consensus continues to deny the Abortion-Breast-Cancer (ABC) link.

‘A’ equals having a baby while ‘B’ equals reduced breast cancer risk and ‘A’ equals ‘B’. ‘C’ equals not having a baby (i.e. abortion). Not having a baby (‘C’) is the opposite of having a baby (‘A’). As ‘A’ is required to have ‘B’ then not having ‘A’ – which is ‘C’ – means not having ‘B’.

It is simple as ABC that having abortion equals having increased breast cancer risk.

Still “WE Lie Really”

Eli Lilly and Co. has repeatedly not been truthful about its Cymbalta drug according to an FDA letter made public only last week though sent almost a month ago.

The company’s promotion “is false or misleading in that it overstates the efficacy of Cymbalta” according to the FDA.

The Eli Lilly Cymbalta claims according to the FDA had “not been demonstrated by substantial evidence or substantial clinical experience.”

The FDA letter also noted that the company promotion of the drug “omits some of the most serious and important risk information associated with its use.”

Omitted information included that Cymbalta taken in combination with some commonly used medications could result in death.

It is these kinds of blatant lies, deceptions and half truths (which are whole lies), and intentional omissions that brought us long ago to refer to this company as “WE Lie Really”.

Yet the FDA is part and parcel of company lies regarding this drug with the mainstream media also having had a hearty helping hand in omissions as well.

Cymbalta was approved despite suicide deaths during safety trials including that of teenager Traci Johnson. Suicide doesn’t sound very safe to me.

The New York Times (NYT) was celebrated for a breakthrough news story linking antidepressant use by teenagers to increased potential for suicide more than three years ago. Many drugs were named but neither Cymbalta nor the actual and not-just-potential-suicide victim Traci Johnson were named by The Times.

Several days before the NYT “scoop” that story was covered by this NATURALLY Speaking column with details still not covered by the mainstream press at large.

Perhaps SINbalta would be a more appropriate name for this drug?

Déjà vu

“In addition, experts must find better and less expensive ways of managing chronic health-care problems,” mirrored the concluding statement of the first covered in today’s column. It came from a completely separate story on a completely separate day from a completely separate news agency on a completely separate subject in a completely separate study of a completely separate medical journal.

Yet still experts (so called) are not looking at or even considering mention of 100% whole food, grown minerals such as chromium that are decidedly better and less expensive ways of managing chronic health-care problems.

Indeed, the sound common sense of “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” is trumped by unsound science (so called) that follows more so after “the love of money is the root of all evil.”

Seeds of rebellion?

Later in the week a consortium of mainstream medical groups and practitioners noted that both the FDA and EPA were misguided and erroneous in recommending limitation of less than 12 ounces of fish weekly.

That amount was recommended instead as a bare minimum starting point to be consumed “without fear” by doctors at a National Press Club press conference in Washington, D.C.

“Studies have shown that if you eat 12 ounces or more fish per week, you are doing better for your baby than if you eat less than that amount or no fish at all,” said Dr. Ashley S. Roman, assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at New York University Medical Center.

The researchers even recommended fish oil supplements.

Dr. Roman also noted the protective aspect of selenium against mercury and that selenium is plentiful in fish containing mercury.

“You have to look at fish as a whole, not at just one element in fish,” Roman said.

It was also noted that mercury in fish has only been demonstrated harmful from fish in industrially polluted Japanese waters.

“There has never been another case reported anywhere else in the world related to fish consumption,” said Dr. Gary J. Myers, professor of neurology and pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center, in New York.

Vaccination in the news over and over

For many years a small but fervent group of us have been crying out about the spiraling numbers of autism as 1 in 166 children. The experts (so called) mocked such pronouncements. Early this year the experts (so called) finally opened their eyes to actually look and lo and behold they announced the incidence as even more commonplace at 1 in 150 children as autistic.

This past weekend it was disclosed that those figures are at least five years old. The number may be as high now as 1 in 67. This was announced by The Vaccine Autoimmune Project based upon the most recent figures from the U.S. Department of Education.

Also last weekend the CDC and who jointly announced that polio vaccine caused almost a hundred cases of polio (so far) in Nigeria though they admit they actually knew about this last year. The report detailed that this is only the most recent in a lengthy list of similar incidents in countries around the world.

One other vaccine story last weekend (least reported of all) was regarding FDA data of more serious injuries the past few months from the HPV vaccine than the previous six months including more than twice as many deaths! The Gardasil Hocus Pocus Vaccine is just more Merck magic targeting women – black magic, woman!

All of these new “news” stories were old news to long time readers of NATURALLY Speaking where this information has been covered for years by this columnist who has taught most of these things through several decades.

Beat the rush to health news of the just-barely-catching-up-a-little mainstream by reading this column every week.

In conclusion a brief question: Is modern medicine more miracle working or marauding whacko?
